Mary will discuss her process, and art and its creation.

Mary McCormick is a longtime resident of Remsenburg.  She started painting with a wonderful teacher when she was 14 years old and living in New Hampshire.

After she was married and started having her family she was drawn back to painting and attended art school at the museum in Montclair, NJ.  She followed that with two years of training at New York’s Art Students League.  A connection with a gallery in Manhattan followed, and she participated in group shows and had one solo show.

Mary has been in two shows at Smith College, her alma mater, one of which was a solo show.  Her work was selected in a Juried Competition at the Parrish Museum, as well as in the “Artists Choose Artists” show there.

She has also been in shows curated by the East End Arts Association, and at the Peter Marcelle Gallery in Bridgehampton and then Southampton.

Her work is in quite a few private collections in various locations.

ArtRemsenburg is sponsored in part by a cultural arts grant from the Town of Southampton and by East End Arts.
